Surdex is willing to release this information to interested parties provided a binding Non-Disclosure Agreement has been executed. Ground processing of the raw airborne acquisition data involves processing the dual-channel airborne GPS data along with IMU data from the sensor into a final solution for aircraft position/attitude ( trajectory ) as a function of time. The ground processing is done using vendor provided software for the sensor. In the case of the ALS50-II, the software used is Leica's own IPAS Pro software, and GrafNav software from Waypoint Consulting. Once the final aircraft trajectory is computed, raw sensor range data can be processed into a point cloud in ground/map coordinates. This processing is also done in the ALS Post Processor, another vendor provided software package. The resulting point cloud is stored in LAS format. The LAS format is a binary exchange format that stores metadata in addition to (X,Y,Z) coordinate for each point. This metadata includes: time, flightline, point classification, first/second/return numbers. The LiDAR point cloud in ground/map coordinates is then processed using a combination of commercial and Surdex proprietary software packages. The GeoCue software product is used for overal process management, using lower level tools from TerraSolid along with in-house tools.
