commonErrors.txt This is a collection of mistakes that I encounter regularly when editing WVGISTC metadata. Some aren't entirely wrong but deviate from my vision of what our metadata should be. This is open to interpre- tation and I welcome discussion on the topic. How- ever, please don't make unilateral decisions about style or content. Bring your ideas up to the rest of the group. If they make sense we may well adopt them. Thanks, Eric Hopkins 10 August 2005 1. Use complete sentences and proper grammar. 2. Rather than 'NA', please type 'None' when, for example, there are no restrictions to downloading the dataset being described. 3. Use the complete mailing address for the WVGISTC, which includes 'West Virginia University' and 'Depart- ment of Geology and Geography.' Also please use the plus-four zip code (6300). 4. Under the keywords section, here is the proper syn- tax. Note that it is 'category', not 'categories', and that ISO-specific keywords are separated from the other internet search keywords (note also the con- straints entries) BTW the dots are arbitrary place- holders to indicate that this is a section of a larger document: . . .
